Spain says goodbye with another defeat against Australia without Nadal or Badosa in the United Cup

MADRID, 3 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis team has said goodbye with another defeat (2-3) against the host Australia in the United Cup, the new mixed ATP and WTA tournament and in which it was already eliminated, without the participation of Rafa Nadal or Paula Badosa and in which this Tuesday only added the victory of Jessica Bouzas.

Spain and Australia began the tie in group D of this first edition of the United Cup. After the victories the day before by Nuria Párrizas over Inglis and Alex de Miñaur against Rada Nadal, Australia prevailed thanks to Kubler’s victories against Albert Ramos (6-3, 4-6 and 6-3) in singles and Stosur and Peers over Bouzas and David Vega in the mixed doubles (6-2 and 6-3).

Earlier, Jessica Bouzas defeated Olivia Gadecki by a doubleheader 6-2. Due to the inconsequentiality of the tie in the United Cup, Rafa Nadal and Paula Badosa did not play the mixed double and Bouzas and Vega did instead.

In this way, Spain left the tournament with a new defeat after the one against Great Britain and as the last in group D, played in Sydney. “The idea is great, but it’s not good that today we played at all. I don’t think it’s good that today we played against Australia while both were out of the tournament,” lamented Nadal.

Greece, Poland, the United States, Great Britain and Italy have already qualified for the quarterfinals of the United Cup, which is also played in Perth and Brisbane. Croatia or France will occupy the last place in play.
