Spain overwhelms South Africa in its debut in the softball World Cup in Valencia

The Spanish softball team made a stellar debut on Tuesday in the WBSC Women’s World Cup, which is being held in Valencia, thanks to a resounding 14-0 victory against the South African team, with an outstanding performance by Meritxell Blesa.

In the first inning of the game, the Spanish achieved a 13-0 run to put their victory on track. The Valencian player Meritxell Blesa had a great performance with the bat, also signing a ‘home run’ to round off her performance.

Also from Valencia, Candela García and Raquel Rodrigo, with one race each, certified the historic Spanish performance along with Estíbaliz Álvarez, Carla Segura (2), Yaicey Sojo, Uxua Modrego (2), Anna Sobrino, Carmen Caicoya and María Caicoya.

This tournament in Valencia, which concerns Group B of the global championship, took its first steps with the dispute of its first three duels. Apart from Spain’s victory over the South Africans, Cuba also won against the Netherlands (4-3) and China against Puerto Rico (2-0).
