MADRID, 30 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish men’s roller hockey team lost (4-2) against Portugal this Friday in the last match of the group stage of the Nations Cup, eliminated before the semifinals.

The classic of this sport, in Montreux (Switzerland), was left to Portugal, saying goodbye to a Spain that tied on six points in the Group B classification with France and the Portuguese team, but eliminated due to the particular ‘goal average’.

In this last duel of the group stage, the team led by Guillem Cabestany began pressing from the beginning and in a great offensive triangulation, Sergi Aragonés opened the scoring. Gonçalo Alves turned the score around with two blue cards for Spain and, before the break, Portugal extended the lead (3-1).

The Spanish team cut back and got closer with chances that repelled between the rival goalkeeper and the post. Without Carles Grau and with five court players, Xavi Cardoso sentenced Spain with the final 4-2. Montreux Hockey Club will be the Spanish rival in the battle for fifth and eighth place.
