Spain defeats Italy in search of the semifinals of the women’s European field hockey

MADRID, 21 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women’s field hockey team beat Italy (2-0) this Sunday to continue with options of reaching the semifinals of the European Championship in Mönchengladbach (Germany).

Spain will look for the cross for the medals this Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. against Belgium, an all or nothing in which only the victory is worth a Spanish team that lost (5-1) in its debut against the Netherlands.

Adrian Lock’s men were serious in defense although without much work and looking for options against an Italy that closed behind. The duel was played on the Italian field and, at the end of the first quarter, Alejandra Torres-Quevedo made it 1-0.

Once again, reaching the end of the second set, Spain scored the second goal again with Torres-Quevedo, after a rehearsed play with María López. Spain tried to improve their scoring tally ahead of the duel against Belgium, but the tie will not count this Monday, just win to go to the semifinals.
