Spain continues with its silver bath in the time trials of the European adapted cycling

The Spanish cyclists Gonzalo García Abella, Ricardo Ten, Maurice Eckhard and the tandem formed by Christian Venge and Noel Martín have won the silver medal this Friday in the time trial of their respective classes in the European Championship of adapted cycling that is being disputed in the Austrian town of Schwanenstadt.

Gonzalo García Abella, in the MT1 category, was the first to face his test. The cyclist from Madrid, who arrived in Austria after some great performances in the World Cups, once again demonstrated his great level of form, obtaining the silver medal only behind the Italian Giorgio Farroni, who beat him in 43 seconds.

Regarding the bikes, Ricardo Ten (MC1), current world champion of the discipline, was only three seconds away from wearing the European time trial champion jersey. The Valencian completed the 12 and a half kilometers with a time of 18 minutes and 54 seconds to touch a new title.

For his part, Maurice Eckhard (MC2) completed a superb test against the clock being second, only eclipsed by the time of Frenchman Alexandre Leaute, 47 seconds better, while Eduardo Santas, in the MC3 class, finished fourth four seconds behind the bronze. ; Juan Alberto Jiménez, sixth in MC4 and in the same class, Óscar Higuera finished thirteenth.

In addition, Damián Ramos (MC5), who made his debut this Friday with the national team, achieved a creditable sixth position over the 22.4-kilometre course and Juan Antonio Sánchez, also in the same category, finished ninth.

In the tandems, Christian Venge and Noel Martín finished second, being only surpassed by the Dutch Tristan Bangma and Patrick Bos; while Joan Sansó and Eloy Teruel were penalized for a puncture in the final stages when they were in time to fight for the bronze medal. Finally, Sansó-Teruel finished sixth, 27 seconds from the bronze.
