Spain continues to grow in the Futsal World Cup and reaches the round of 16 as first team

MADRID, 21 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish men’s futsal team beat Libya (8-0) on Saturday in the last match of Group D of the World Cup being played in Uzbekistan, thus advancing to the round of 16 as first and, a priori, best team.

Fede Vidal’s men took another step forward in their game in search of the third star of world champions. Spain showed no mercy and sought the rout to secure first place in the tie on points with Kazakhstan, who also beat New Zealand with many goals (10-0), but finished second.

Spain showed intensity from the start and pinned down their opponents, pressing after losing the ball. Although the goals were once again slow to come, this time the two-time world champions opened the scoring earlier and enjoyed above all an inspired Mellado, with three goals, two in the first half, for a 5-0 lead at half-time.

Adolfo, Gordillo and a brace from Cortés rounded off the victory that will see Vidal’s men face third place in the group. Spain had already qualified for the last 16 after their victory over New Zealand (7-1), where they missed a goal but laid the first stone to straighten out a World Cup that they had started with a draw against the Kazakhs.
