Spain closes the Boxam International Elite in La Nucía with six golds

The Spanish boxing team has closed the Boxam Internacional Elite 2023, which was held in La Nucía (Alicante), with six gold medals, won by Clara Cortés (-48kg), Jennifer Fernández (-57kg), Salvador Flores (63.5kg), Sergio Martínez (-71kg), Pablo Coy (-80kg) and Enmanuel Reyes (-92kg).

In the women’s -48kg final, Clara Cortés (-48kg) won on points against the Welshman Leah Regan, while the Granada-born Jennifer Fernández did the same in the -57kg against the Frenchman Amina Zidani.

At light welterweight (63.5 kg), Salvador Flores, 20, attacked with energy in the second and third rounds to overcome the Englishman Patris Mughalzai, while Sergio Martínez defeated the Welshman Garan Croft in the final -71 kg.

Pablo Coy, in the light heavyweight category (80 kg), won the gold medal against the Frenchman Raphael Monny, the same medal that the Olympian Emmanuel Reyes achieved against the Frenchman Soheb Bouafia in the heavyweight category (92 kg).

During the tournament, which is in its 37th edition and is the most important international Olympic boxing event organized in Western Europe, boxers from 15 countries participated.

Boxam International has the collaboration of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) and the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation through the PAC CV Competition Support Program; the Generalitat Valenciana, the Alicante Provincial Council and the La Nucía City Council.
