Spain and Italy receive invitations to the 2023 Davis Cup Finals

The teams from Italy and Spain have received invitations to play the 2023 Davis Cup Finals and will advance directly to the group stage in September, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Kosmos Tennis announced this Sunday, which also have confirmed that 2022 finalists Australia and Canada automatically qualify for the group stage of the 2023 final.

Additionally, the seedings for the 2023 qualifiers draw have been announced. The invites were selected by the Davis Cup Steering Committee, which is comprised of two ITF members and two Kosmos Tennis members.

A total of 24 countries will compete in the 2023 qualifiers: the 12 countries that finished between 3rd and 16th place in the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals and the 12 winning countries from the 2022 World Group I qualifiers.

The 12 qualifying heats will be played roundtrip on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 February or Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 February. Each tie consists of two singles matches on the first day and a doubles match followed by two singles matches on the second day. The winning nations of the 2023 qualifiers will advance to the group stage of the 2023 Finals in September.

The seeds will be Croatia, France, the United States, Germany, Great Britain, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Sweden, the Netherlands, Argentina and the Czech Republic; the unseeded are Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, Colombia, Finland, Hungary, South Korea, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Switzerland and Uzbekistan.
