Spain adds a gold, a silver and a bronze in a prolific day in Munich

The Spanish canoeist María Corbera has been proclaimed European champion in the C1 500 meters test of the European Canoeing Championships, which are being held in Munich (Germany), on a day in which the Spanish K4 1000 team has hanging the silver and the K2 1000 of Begoña Lazkano and Laia Pelachs, the bronze.

The woman from Madrid, who had already won silver in the 200-meter Olympic distance, dominated the race at the Bavarian capital’s Olympic Regatta Center from start to finish, using a time of 2:03.586 to lead a podium completed by the Ukrainian Liudmyla Luzan (2:05.096), world champion, and Croatian Vanesa Tot (2:06.682).

For its part, the K4 made up of Paco Cubelos, Roi Rodríguez, Pedro Vázquez and Iñigo Pérez fought until the end in the 1,000-meter test, but the German boat ended up beating the Spanish by 0.453 seconds, finally silver. Hungary took the bronze medal.

Precisely that same metal Begoña Lazkano and Laia Pelachs hung in the final of K2 1000 meters, in which the Poles Justyna Iskrzycka and Katarzyna Kolodziejczyk surpassed them in the last meters. The Hungarians Emese Kohalmi and Eszter Rendessy were proclaimed continental champions.
