MADRID, 22 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Baskonia’s coach, Neven Spahija, acknowledged on Tuesday that the team must “play with more consistency”, as it goes through “many ups and downs” during games, although he insisted that the Basques are “getting better” before facing the Fenerbahce in the Euroleague.
“We have to play with more consistency, we have many ups and downs. We are getting better and better, we have now had two days to prepare and I think this is not going to help tomorrow to react and play a good game”, explained the coach in statements to the media of the club collected by Europa Press.
Baskonia hosts Fenerbahce on Wednesday and Spahija highlighted “defense” as a key aspect against the Turks. “We have to play defense with much more energy. Stop things like Nando de Colo’s pick & roll. We have to have more energy than in the previous game,” he analyzed.
“It’s a long squad, with a lot of quality. In the first game against them we only scored 53 points… I think the situation is better for us now, but we’re going to play against a team that has a lot of individual quality. I have information that Jan Vesely returns, who is very important for them”, he added about his next rival.
Finally, the Croatian stressed that the objective for the next games, three this week alone, is “to go step by step, win and try to enter the ‘playoffs'” of the Euroleague.
