Friends since they met as journalists on television, Sonsoles Ónega has spoken about Queen Letizia for Beatriz Cortázar and Informalia: “I am not friends with a queen, but with the journalist I met at CNN who has helped me when I needed her.”. On her programme and just before leaving for holiday, the Antena 3 presenter also made a joke about the Asturian consort this Friday.
It was when she was talking to stylist Manuel Zamorano about the makeover she has undergone on the show. Natalia, the woman whose look she has changed, came to the set wearing low-heeled sandals: “With the bacteria, she limps a lot and couldn’t wear heels. But how do you elevate a look without adding a little heel? I thought of a trainer, but no. Then I convinced her.”
Meanwhile, Sonsoles Ónega remained thoughtful until she said, in a joking tone: “If the queen hears you, she’ll throw a tantrum.”. And the stylist replied, laughing: “Let’s see, what can I take with me?”.
It should be remembered that, due to a fracture in her right foot, Queen Letizia has been wearing trainers since the beginning of May. This Thursday, at the Mariano Cavia, she appeared wearing sandals with a low heel, only five centimetres high and worth almost 600 euros.
Regarding the queen’s friendship with Sonsoles Ónega, the journalist herself recalled in her last interview for Informalia the moment when the consort surprised her, in November, at the signing of her latest book, The maid’s daughters“I’m not friends with a queen, but with the journalist I met at CNN who has helped me when I’ve needed her and who is always there. She’s the person who was in line that day. Everything else is a burden. For me, she’s the same friend and not only has she not changed, she’s improved.”
It should be remembered that the mother of Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia showed up at a well-known shopping centre in the centre of Madrid to surprise her friend when she was showered with criticism for her new novel and the Planeta Prize she won thanks to it.
