Son frustrates Arsenal and Liverpool takes second

MADRID, 24 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The derby between Arsenal and Tottenham left a 2-2 this Sunday that allowed Liverpool to become second as the biggest pursuer of the leader Manchester City, in a sixth day of the Premier League in which Brighton, which is third, also won.

City had every chance of winning after their victory against Forest on Saturday, and Pep Guardiola’s men saw two pursuers share the points in the north London derby. Arsenal took the lead twice but South Korean Son Heung-min equalized twice.

An own goal from Romero and then another from Saka from a penalty did not prevent the ‘Spurs’ from once again showing their optimistic and confident state under the orders of Ange Postecoglou. The Australian coach has the morale of his players high and, in fact, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya was important.

Arteta’s decision to keep his compatriot seemed correct, but against Son they could do nothing. Thus, second with 16 points, two behind City, was Liverpool, who did maintain their pace with their victory (3-1) over West Ham. Salah, Darwin Núñez and Diego Jota signed the ‘red’ triumph.

In addition, Brighton beat Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth 3-1, a team that still hasn’t won despite taking the lead in the south of England this Sunday. In search of looking ahead, Newcastle left an impressive 0-8 victory against bottom team Sheffield United, their second victory in a row.
