The Slovenian Football First Division, which was to return this Wednesday, has been postponed to August 22 after coronavirus was detected in several players.
As reported by the Delo newspaper of Ljubljana, the Slovenian Football Federation made the decision to delay the start of the matches after learning on Tuesday that three Olimpija players, the third club in 2019-2020, tested positive in both tests of covid-19 to which they had been subjected.
All members of the club, including its technical team, must remain in quarantine. Previously, two other Primera clubs, Domzale and Aluminij, reported cases of infected players.
In a statement posted on its website, the Federation has announced that all matches will be played until further notice without public and under strict precautionary measures to prevent the spread of covid-19.
“We can only successfully face current challenges if safety and health are consistently respected, and if professional behavior and constructive participation are maintained,” the federation warned in the note.
