Sinisa Mihajlovic suffers from leukemia again

BERLIN, March 26. (dpa/EP) –

Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic will miss some upcoming Serie A matches for treatment after being diagnosed with leukemia again, the 53-year-old former Yugoslav international confirmed on Saturday.

Mihajlovic was originally diagnosed with this blood cancer in 2019, five months after joining Bologna for the second time, but has recovered after a bone marrow transplant and three rounds of chemotherapy.

“They advised me to start a therapy that can nip the disease at the root. I know what I have to do and the situation is different. I hope it goes quickly,” Mihajlovic said, assuring that he was calmer than three years ago.

Bologna sits twelfth in Serie A and visits competition leader AC Milan on April 4.
