Simeone: “Everything in the past has no value, they will value us for what we do tomorrow”

MADRID, 15 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Atlético de Madrid coach, Diego Pablo Simeone, has assured that everything achieved in previous months “has no value”, since the teams are always judged by what they achieve at the end of the season, in addition to confirming that the Argentine Ángel Correa will start this Sunday in the LaLiga Santander match against Almería.

“Everything that happened previously has no value. The only reality is the one you have to live and the one we are going to live tomorrow from the moment the referee starts the game,” he said at a press conference. “We have to focus on reality, and reality is tomorrow’s game. Like everything in life, what is left behind is, and what absolutely matters is tomorrow,” he added.

In this sense, he considers that they will always be judged by what happens in the next match. “Tomorrow they will value us for what we do against Almería, a team that plays well, that has a coach with defined characteristics in all the teams he was in and is in that beautiful fight that has the relegation zone. He has the need to play a good game, he said.

“I always tried to focus on the only thing that absolutely depends on me, because I am the coach, which is what the team can do. I gave importance to the search for the team to improve, grow and feel more reliable. The boys are well, they are competing with a lot of commitment. We need to continue along the same lines, that the people in the stadium are as they were in the last game against Betis, because they are very important to us, and not look the other way than to continue improving on a day-to-day basis,” he continued.

In another order of things, the Argentine coach confirmed that Ángel Correa, absent in the last LaLiga Santander game due to the death of his mother and who already played this week in the friendly match against Besiktas, will return to ownership. “Ángel is very important to us. Tomorrow he will have to start and I can’t imagine anything other than having a great game,” he warned.

“He comes from playing 70 good minutes, he had scored the goal against Betis in the previous game at home and then he couldn’t join us in the game against Rayo. This week he played 70 minutes, he was very good for the first 25 of Wednesday’s game He is with his teammates, going through the duel that one naturally has to go through when these situations happen and he already thinks about playing, which is what mobilizes him,” he continued.

On the other hand, the ‘Cholo’ spoke about the state of Stefan Savic and Memphis Depay. “Memphis is on the way to recover, surely next week we can have him at the beginning of the week so he can help us. Stefan came back from the game with some discomfort in his back, these friendly games have these things,” he said.

Finally, he did not want to analyze the performance of his players in the friendly last Wednesday. “I don’t start to value just 70 minutes after a season in which I’m with them every day. I know what they can give, what they have, and I don’t change my thinking at all,” he concluded.
