Silvia Persico wins the fourth stage of the Ceratizit Challenge

MADRID, 11 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian Silvia Persico (Valcar – Travel & Service) won the fourth stage of the Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta, ending in the Plaza Mayor in Segovia and disputed over 160 kilometers, thanks to her top speed, crossing the finish line ahead by Demi Vollering (Team SD Worx) and Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek-Segafredo).

The Olympic champion Anna Kiesenhofer (Soltec Team) put the race in check with a breakaway starting from Palencia, coming to be eight minutes ahead of the pack, which was neutralizing the breakaway in the last kilometer, in the middle of the climb to the Aqueduct . Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar Team Women) kept the red jersey as leader with the final stage in Madrid remaining.

Thus, except for a surprise in Sunday’s stage, Van Vleuten will take victory in this Ceratizit Challenge, defending last year’s title and signing a historic hat-trick after the Giro and the Tour this season.
