Shakira breaks down when talking about Piqué's great "betrayal": "I found out from the press while my dad was in the ICU"

With his latest songs and especially with Session 53, Shakira he dispatched himself at ease after his break with Gerard Piqué. He has now given an interview in which he talks about how he found out about the “betrayal” of the former Barça footballer, in love with the twenty-something Catalan Clara Chia. “I found out from the press that she had been betrayed while my dad was in the ICU. I thought she wouldn’t survive that long,” she says.

In his interview with Peoplethe Colombian star adds disconsolately: “The man I have loved the most in my life, my father, left me when I needed him the most, but I could not talk to him or receive the advice from my best friend that I would have needed so much (… .) It all came together, my home was falling apart.”

In this sense, the woman from Barranquilla summarizes her hardest stage of life this way: “I have gone through denial, anger, pain, acceptance, mourning, hope, disappointment, hope again and illusion.”

Music, for her, has once again been a catharsis: “So many emotions and feelings that at times seemed to be found, it seemed that they could not coexist at the same time within me, that I have only been able to unravel through my songs, to understand myself a a little better”.

It must be remembered that the health of his father, the nonagenarian William Mebarack, has generated great concern in recent years. Even the singer’s move to Miami with her two children, which finally took place last April, was conditioned by William’s health problems, who was not in a position to take on the long journey from Barcelona without a medicalized plane and tailored to your needs.

The break between Shakira and Piqué after twelve years together was confirmed by the music star herself at the beginning of June last year. In November they finally reached an agreement for the custody of the children, Milan y Sasha, who have the right to spend 66% of their school vacations with their father, whether in Miami or anywhere else in the world. This month of June they have spent a few weeks with dad Gerard in Catalan lands – although they were not at Uncle Marc Piqué’s wedding, held this Sunday June 24 – and they are currently in Costa Rica continuing their vacations with mom.
