The Plaza de la Alameda de Hércules in Seville has brought to an end this Saturday the 2022 edition of the Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank circuit, which ended its journey through 12 cities throughout Spain in the Andalusian capital, a day that brought together 248 male and female players from all categories in 62 teams to play a total of 80 games in front of 5,000 visitors.
Since early in the morning, not only the competitions by categories have been held, but also the usual shooting and skills contests. The event has had the institutional support of the Andalusian Government, the Seville City Council and the collaboration of the Andalusian Basketball Federation, in addition to the contribution of a team of 25 volunteers attached to the successful FEB-CaixaBank Volunteer Program.
Seville has been the twelfth stop on the circuit in 2022, which since its start on May 31 had already passed through Melilla, Madrid, Malaga, Palma, Pamplona, A Coruña, Santander, Barcelona, Alcalá de Henares, Zaragoza and Granada .
The mayor of Seville, Antonio Muñoz, assured that “there is no better way than to start a Saturday practicing sports and basketball”. “This day is proving once again that Seville is a living city, that loves sports and street basketball. We are delighted to be the last stop of the year for a circuit that is a success in every way,” he said.
For his part, the commercial director of CaixaBank in Seville, Ignacio Blasco, described the ten years of Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank as “a success story”. “Our thanks to the City Council, which always makes it easy to practice sports in the street and allow us to be close to people, and especially on such a spectacular day,” he said.
Meanwhile, the delegate in Seville of the Andalusian Basketball Federation, Aníbal Méndez, recalled that “Andalusian basketball is in very good health. “You can see it with so many boys and girls gathered here today and the great training work of all our clubs . We have to continue working on events like Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank”, he explained.
Lastly, FEB Ambassador Marta Fernández acknowledged the “pleasure” of attending Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank. “Thanks to everyone on behalf of the FEB, we are very happy to see so many boys and girls enjoying basketball in the street. And our thanks to the institutions that make it possible, especially CaixaBank and the city councils. more years,” he wished.
The FEB launched the Plaza 3×3 program in 2012, from its first edition by CaixaBank. Since its inception, the circuit has reached 101 stops, 45,000 participants and 225,000 visitors. All this in a total of 42 cities throughout Spain: A Coruña, Albacete, Alcalá de Henares, Alcázar de San Juan, Almendralejo, Almería, Ávila, Badajoz, Barcelona, Bilbao, Burgos, Cáceres, Castellón, Cartagena, Córdoba, Gijón, Guadalajara, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Jerez de la Frontera, León, Leganés, L’Hospitalet, Logroño, Madrid, Málaga, Melilla, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Pamplona, Plasencia, San Sebastián, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santander, Santiago of Compostela, Segovia, Seville, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Terrassa, Valencia, Zaragoza and Zarautz.
