Sevilla signs Argentine central defender Federico Gattoni for next season

Sevilla FC reached an agreement this Friday for the transfer of central defender Federico Gattoni from the Argentine CA San Lorenzo de Almagro, which will take effect as of July 1, 2023 and will last until 2027.

“Sevilla FC and CA San Lorenzo de Almagro have reached an agreement for the transfer of central defender Federico Gattoni to the Sevilla team, which will take effect as of July 1, 2023 and will last until 2027. The player born in Buenos Aires, who turned 24 this Thursday, will continue for the remainder of the season on loan at his club of origin,” the club said in a statement.

Formed since its inception in the lower ranks of CA San Lorenzo, Gattoni made the leap to the first team at the hands of Mariano Soso in October 2020, in an Argentine League Cup match against Argentinos Juniors. The following campaign is that of his establishment in the team, making his debut both in the Professional League and in continental competition.

In 2021/22 he became an indisputable despite his youth, becoming a starter behind the Cyclone. As team captain, he fully played 25 of the 27 league games and only missed two due to suspension. In this campaign, of which three days have been played, he accumulated the 90 minutes played in the opening game against Arsenal de Sarandí.

Regarding his international facet, Gattoni defended Argentina under-20 in the L’Alcudia International Tournament in the summer of 2018, in which he played two games under the current senior coach, Lionel Scaloni.
