“Sevilla makes you understand that it is a performance club”

The Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bonowhich has extended its contract with the Sevilla until 2025, has welcomed its renewal by “continue to grow as a goalkeeper, person, player within the group and with the club”which he described as “very ambitious” and eager “to continue achieving important things”.

The goalkeeper born in Montreal (Canada), 31, told the club’s media that “Sevilla makes you understand that it is a performance club” in which “it’s not just about being a good player, but about performing well” and “when you understand that you force yourself to be the best version of yourself”.

From Girona to Seville

Bono arrived at the Sevilla club in the summer of 2019 on loan from Girona, after the departure of Sergio Rico to the French PSG, and began as a substitute for the Czech Tomas Vaclík, until his debut on October 3 of that year in the Europa League against Cypriot APOEL; and this season he has conceded 19 goals in 26 league games.

“Sevilla allows me to continue improving and demands of me. That’s important to me. There is a very familiar atmosphere without losing professionalism, the demands of the challenges of the big clubs. There is a balance that is important for the player to feel and the city and its people are wonderful”, asserted the Moroccan international goalkeeper.

Final stretch of the season

Regarding the moment of Julen Lopetegui’s men, he pointed out that they arrive “in the last stretch in a very important way and the team is prepared” because “they like to face difficult situations and at the same time beautiful”, so they will “compete game by game to improve what was done in previous seasons”.

Among other issues, he referred to his relationship with the Serbian goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic and said that both are “goalkeepers at the level of this Sevilla” and that “when you have the level to defend your status you don’t have to be one way or another, but that you trust in what you have and work: that’s why we have a very good relationship”, he considered.

In the case of playing this Thursday against Levante, Bono will complete one hundred official matches as a Sevilla player. So far he has played 65 LaLiga Santander games with Sevilla, eight in the Copa del Rey, 11 in the Champions League, 14 in the Europa League and one in the European Super Cup, in which he has accumulated 50 clean sheets.
