Lopetegui’s men puncture again at home against an Alavés who is not happy with the point either
MADRID, 4 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Sevilla gave up a draw (0-0) this Friday on their visit to Deportivo Alavés on matchday 27 of LaLiga Santander, their fourth draw in a row away from home, a significant loss for their pursuit of leader Real Madrid, and a low point also for the Basques, who will continue in the relegation zone.
Julen Lopetegui’s team, second in the table, had their chance to get oil, shoot quality, in the 89th minute with Munir and Koundé up. There were no great flashes, nor a great night for Sevilla like the previous three away from Pizjuán. The Andalusian team is five points behind Madrid, but the leader can escape to eight if they beat Real Sociedad on Saturday.
Alavés was better and forgave, to add a point that is not enough for him, since he can see salvation moving away. The Andalusian team was more of a spectator in the first half than an Alavés who pressed the pressure and had more danger and chances. The lack of local aim and Bono saved a Sevilla that, despite not being inspired, had the option of scoring with Gudelj and Ocampos.
Luis Rioja, Toni Moya and especially Escalante were around the goal for the locals, and there were a few more intentional arrivals. The match was still alive after the restart, with Edgar and Ocampos sharing the chances. Óliver Torres gave the visitors a little more intention, but Alavés was once again the protagonist.
Joselu did not finish hunting a good one, nor did Pere Pons take advantage of his. The aim failed the Basque team and in the end they almost regretted it even more with a very clear last one by Munir for Sevilla. A point that makes no one happy, in two equally tense and important fights for each one.
