MADRID, 7 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Villarreal CF coach, Quique Setién, was “satisfied” this Saturday with his team’s performance in the victory (2-1) against Real Madrid at La Cerámica, at the same time that he analyzed the referee’s decision in the two penalties called by hand, one in each area, confessing that these decisions generate “a lot of tension”.
“The reality is that I have not seen either of the two actions. I suppose this is a complicated assessment, but it is true that taking those penalties generates a lot of tension and I don’t know how it can be resolved. It is a problem because a hand like I understand that ours surely does not generate so much danger that it is a penalty and there is no voluntariness. Calling a penalty in this seems to me too much of a prize, we must try to solve it, “said the coach at a press conference.
The Spaniard praised the good play of his team and was satisfied with the evolution of his players. “We are advancing and the reality is that we are happy because there are many things that the footballers are understanding. There are positions in which we are placing players who had not done it before. This is what one is working on and little by little we are seeing Maybe another day things don’t go well for you, but I’m very happy,” he said.
“It is true that we have had a great game, we have suffered when we had to. We have started very well, we have taken many things from the plan to the field of play. We have played in the rival field for a long time and we have controlled their potential. It is true that Madrid is Madrid and they get chances out of nowhere, but in general the baggage is very positive and we deserved the victory”, he added.
Setién also made an assessment of his arrival at the ‘Yellow Submarine’ after a somewhat complicated start. “I am a man of faith, the beginnings were not easy. When we arrived there was a major ‘shock’ in the club, with the arrival of a new coach who wants to change things when everything was going well. The truth is that it costs, but you know that in the end it ends up coming out, because this team also has extraordinary quality. The reality is that I am satisfied with the improvement that we are seeing in the game”, he pointed out.
Finally, the Villarreal coach did not want to talk about the position in the table and the possible classification of the ‘groguets’ for European competitions. “The classification doesn’t worry me too much, we’ve had three victories in a row and we’re up there, but in a month the opposite could happen to us. The important thing is to reach the end being strong because that’s when the positions are at stake. What worries me is that there be regularity in the game”, he concluded.
