Sergio Rodríguez assures that the poor scoring success is not a lack of quality

The coach of the UD Logroñés, Sergio Rodriguez, has assured this Friday that his team's poor goalscorer hitherto is not due to a “lack of quality” of his players, since “streaks come or go, but the important thing is that the balance of chances received and created be positive ”.

Rodriguez, at the press conference prior to the game this Saturday against the CD Lugo, added that, “to compete, you have to reduce the number of chances that the rival makes and make the maximum possible and, in that aspect, the team has been equal and even superior in some matches”.

Although he has warned that no Second Division team will create ten chances per game, since “the games usually offer few scoring opportunities, require a lot of concentration and are quite close”, so UD Logroñés “will continue with its defensive dynamics so that the rival has less success; and we will have to wait for the success to arrive ”.

The Riojan coach stressed that the sensations have been good so far, but “what matters in football are the points and, beyond playing well or badly, the team has started the league with less than expected, so that the idea is to gradually recover them ”.

Regarding the game this Saturday against CD Lugo, he has revealed that the coaching staff plans to make some variation in the starting eleven because “the team has played a game two days ago and needs fresh people.”

The two goalkeepers of the first team, Rubén Miño and Roberto Santamaría, continue working and their evolution is expected to see if they will be available for the game this Saturday, although “the coaching staff is happy with the work that Yari has shown in these two games, despite the fact that he had not played for a long time, so there is tranquility in the team ”, he indicated.

On the line of three centrals that he placed in the previous match against Fuenlabrada, he pointed out that it is “a resource that the team has, but its use will depend on the availability of the players and the rival they face that week.”

As for CD Lugo, Rodríguez has said that it has been difficult to evaluate it because they have just changed their coach and they have made some changes.

“In the last games they have given more priority to the defensive aspect and have been more conservative in attack, which has made them use a more direct game,” he said.

He has also referred to the possibility that their last two consecutive victories will make them come to Logroño “a little looser and with more daring and confidence in the offensive aspect”.
