Sergi Roberto renews with FC Barcelona until 2024

BARCELONA, 3 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The FC Barcelona player Sergi Roberto renewed his contract with the Blaugrana club this Friday until the end of the following season, with a clause of 400 million euros for one of the captains of the first team.

“FC Barcelona and the player Sergi Roberto have reached an agreement to renew his contract until 2024. The termination clause is set at 400 million,” the Blaugrana club announced.

Sergi Roberto, one of the first team youth players, is playing his 17th season at the Blaugrana entity, which he joined in 2006 from Nàstic de Tarragona.

After rising through the different grassroots football teams, the man from Reus stood out in the subsidiary -trained then by Luis Enrique- and made his debut with the first team on November 10, 2010, in a 5-1 win against Ceuta in the Cup King.

Since then, and thirteen years later, he has accumulated 339 appearances with the first team, standing out for his versatility. At La Masia he was trained as an attacking midfielder, but he adapted to different positions such as midfielder and even right back, in which he has played in the first team under various coaches.

In fact, he has played most of his games as a right-back, a position he discovered with Luis Enrique. “The man from Reus, from silence and daily work, has earned a new contract that binds him for another year to the team of his life”, valued FC Barcelona.
