Semedo gives negative

Nelson Semedo will be able to rejoin the group in the Friday afternoon session of FC Barcelona after negative in the coronavirus test, as revealed by the RAC1 chain. In this way, the Portuguese defender will be able to enter the call to travel to Mallorca and play the match this Saturday in Son Moix, if Quique Setién considers it so.

The right back was removed from the team this Thursday after confirming that the player skipped protocol on Monday when attending a birthday dinner where neither the social distance nor the limit of people in an enclosure was respected.

The fact is aggravated because Semedo did not report this anomaly, training with his companions in a normal way, both on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the danger of infection that this circumstance supposed. Fortunately, the PCR test that the entire staff underwent this Thursday ruled out any positive, so all will be available.

The club reserves, in any case, to financially sanction the Portuguese defender for skipping protocol, not subsequently notifying the club and endangering the other teammates.

Semedo is not the first player to skip the LaLiga protocol. The first were four Sevilla players who spread a barbecue in a garden and last weekend it was Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic who broke protocol at a meal at his home accompanied by Getafe players Maksimovic and of Atlético de Madrid, Saponjic.

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, has already warned that if similar events are repeated in the coming days, the possibility of concentrating all the teams for the duration of the competition would be seriously considered.
