The Cdiz player underwent tests for the coronavirus. He had refused to return if he was not given maximum health guarantees
Cdiz defender Rafael Gimnez 'Fali' passed a medical examination and joined the training group along with his teammates under the orders of the team's technician, Álvaro Cervera. The Valencian footballer, 26, is waiting to know the results of the different tests, the Cadista club said in a statement.
Fali, who passed Covid-19 screening tests on Thursday, will join training later than his teammates after initially refusing for fear of possible contagion. The footballer said some dates ago that he would even consider leaving football if the competition resumed, even if it was behind closed doors, and they did not give him the maximum sanitary guarantees, although now he has changed his mind.
The first Cdiz squad, leader of LaLiga SmartBank until the tournament was halted in the first half of last March due to the coronavirus pandemic, has developed this Friday the last training of the week.
Fixed at initial 11
Fali has been one of the regular players in Cervera's starting eleven as long as he has not been impeded by injuries or penalties. Last season arrived on loan from the Gimnstic de Tarragona and the Cadista club paid the stipulated termination clause to take over their services.
Cdiz played its last game on March 6 in Lugo, match of day 31 that ended with a goal draw. The team coached by lvaro Cervera occupies the first position in the classification table with 56 points, one above Zaragoza, which is second with 55; and with a six-point advantage over Almera, who has 50 and is third tied on points with Huesca, fourth in the table.
