Schweinsteiger hints at Eintracht sporting director

Bastian Schweinsteiger could return to the world of football sooner than expected. As reported by the German newspaper Bild in its online version, the ex of Bayern of Munich, Manchester United and Chicago Fire would be one of the main candidates to become sporting director of the Eintracht of Frankfurt. Fredi Bobic, current head of the Eintracht sports area, seems to have done it with Hertha Berlin and would join the club in the capital in the summer.

“I'm drawn to a position where you can really shape a team, where you also have responsibility. I know how to be successful.” said the former midfielder who led the Mannschaft during the World Cup conquest in 2014 recently. Schweinsteiger hung up his boots in 2019, mostly due to his willingness to spend more time with his wife, former tennis player Ana Ivanovic, and their children.

For now Schweinsteiger is an analyst for Germany's leading television network ARD. He is dedicated to offering his opinion in matches of the German national team or the Pokal, a function that he could leave again shortly to begin his career in the Bundesliga offices. It seems that, for now, he does not care that they are not those of his beloved Bayern Munich.
