MADRID, 22 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish rider Tosha Schareina won this Saturday, in the motorcycle category, in the XXXIX edition of the Baja España Aragón, defending his victory last year as did the Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah, in cars.
The Honda driver dominated the test from start to finish, being the fastest in all the timed specials. The Valencian led Lorenzo Santolino (Sherco) by 9’09” and the Portuguese Rui Gonçalves, 15’21”, completed the podium.
“I have felt very comfortable throughout the day, I have been able to distance myself little by little. In SS-2 we have suffered a lot because the terrain was very broken after the passage of cars and trucks but we are here, we have won for the second time and I am happy”, he said in statements provided by the organization.
Meanwhile, Al-Attiyah also repeated his victory and achieved the sixth of his record in the traditional rally in Teruel, coming back on the second and last day. In the first special on Saturday, the Qatari gave the overall blow, leading the rest of the day. The Brazilian Lucas Moraes (Toyota) was second at 1’43” and the Spanish Carlos Sainz (Audi) finished third at 9’17” although Audi competed out of category.
“I am very happy for this victory, the sixth here in Baja España. It is incredible to have won, it has been an edition with record participation, with Audi, Toyota and Ford and with the best drivers in the world. It is the last race for me with Toyota. I want to thank my team for the work during these last six years and I am very grateful for everything they have given me”, said Al-Attiyah.
Meanwhile, the Spanish Laia Sanz, in her debut on four wheels in the Baja Aragón at the wheel of the MCE-5 T3 of the Wevers Sport team, suffered a technical problem that prevented her from completing the fight for the podium.
