MADRID, 13 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
He Hereda San Pablo Burgos fell (62-75) against Flamengo this Sunday in the final of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2022, held in Cairo, handing over his throne to the Brazilian team.
The Castilian team was defending the title, after reaching the final by defeating the host Zamalek in the semifinals, but at the moment of truth it showed that the season is not going in the right direction. The start broke the final for the Brazilians, a 12-25 that weighed down Burgos’ options for the next 30 minutes.
Vítor Benite (14 points), Tarik Phillip and Xabi Rabaseda were the support for Paco Olmos’ men. In Egyptian lands, Burgos was looking for the turning point, but Flamengo prevented any type of illusion from the rival, currently bottom in the Endesa League.
After the break the Spanish team tightened their defense, but the dream of defending the title and winning the fourth international trophy was broken between Lucas Martinez, MVP, Carlos Olivinha and Brandon Robinson.
