Sampaoli: “There has been a very high degree of negativity”

MADRID, 5 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Sevilla FC coach, Jorge Sampaoli, lamented the “very high degree of negativity” his team has to face matches like the one this Saturday against Atlético de Madrid, from which they came out thrashed (6-1) and with a “hard stick”.

“It has been a hard blow, because beyond not living up to the circumstances that caused us this difference, the team had moments where it closed the gap, it was able to do it at other times, a player was expelled from us. A grade has been given of negativity very high to play this type of matches”, he said.

Sampaoli recognized that, in recent weeks, the Andalusian team has lost the green shoots it had and is once again in a delicate situation, with the possibility of being relegated on this 24th round of LaLiga Santander. “We had gotten up at a time when the team grew, now it declined again and now it will have to get up,” he said in statements to the club’s media.

On the other hand, the Argentine coach referred to the Europa League, with the first leg of the round of 16 against Fenerbahce this Thursday. “It doesn’t get in the way, we have to face it and keep improving and correcting unforced errors. Today the first two goals were due to our mistakes,” he said.

“Then, continue trying to improve organizationally on the defensive line, without having many players there but trying to get some footballers to play in different places. We will work all week to improve this,” he finished.
