Sainz: “It’s a shame, you can’t do much more”

MADRID, 24 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) has regretted his abandonment in the first lap of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, in which a contact with the Australian Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren) in the second corner of Imola has condemned him, and has assured that it has left “all the space” necessary so that the oceanic could pass.

“It’s a shame. The two cars didn’t start very well, the McLarens started very fast and we stayed behind a bit. In the first corner I managed to recover position, I left Daniel as much space as I could and it looks who has climbed on the piano, has made a mistake and hit me. This is racing, you can’t do much more, “he told DAZN.

Regarding the fact of being overtaken at the start by the two McLarens, the man from Madrid acknowledged that they should “analyze it”, although he is not overly concerned. “We have to analyze it, because McLaren and Red Bull have clearly come out better than us. But it doesn’t matter, it was still a long race, even if a McLaren passed you, it had 63 laps to pass it,” he stressed.

“I don’t know what happened on the curb at turn 1, that Ricciardo must have climbed, he must have spit on it, with the bad luck that it has given me. I couldn’t give him more space,” he concluded.
