The AS Saint-Étienne, French Ligue 1 club, announced this Thursday five positive for coronavirus (three of them from his professional staff) after the tests carried out of serological detection and PCR as a health protocol before the return of the training of his players.
“The serological detection tests and the PCR carried out before the resumption of the activities of the professional group reveal five positive cases with Covid-19, including three from their professional staff,” the French team announced in a statement.
Said Covid-19 tests were carried out on a total of 33 footballers and 21 members of the administrative team. Likewise, this Thursday, 38 additional tests were carried out among the employees of the administrative services related to the sports sector.
Saint-Étienne states that this test campaign “shows that the people who tested positive contracted the virus during the period of confinement, when they were not in contact with each other.”
Similarly, those who tested positive are currently confined to their homes and will be assisted by the club's medical staff in collaboration with the Saint-Etienne University Hospital. They will undergo further testing within the next 24 hours.
