Sabadell lives its best moment of the season

Sabadell is one game away from closing 2020. It will be against Castellón, another of the teams that have celebrated a great year due to the promotion achieved last season. Both are out of relegation, although still in danger.

Antonio Hidalgo's team is doing its homework this December. He has won all three games he has played away from home. 1-2 in the League both in Tenerife and Cartagena and 0-2 in the Copa del Rey against Ibiza Islas Pitiuses. At home is where the harlequins falter with the defeat against Oviedo and the draw “in extremis” against Alcorcón.

After starting the season short of cash and time, with a terrible schedule against Rayo, Mallorca and Espanyol they arrived without points on the seventh day. Now he has 17 in the last eleven games.

The triumph in the Copa del Rey against Ibiza Pitiuses left many proper names. From the outset the debut as starters of three youth players. Goalkeeper Froi Leal made his debut and kept a clean sheet taking the place of the injured Diego Fuoli and the reserved Ian Mackay. Center-back Chadi Riad and forward David Astals also made their starting debuts. They are three players born in the 21st century.

This youth is joined by the veteran of Jesús Olmo, who after 16 months returned to play a game as a starter, after doing so for the last time in August 2019 against Castellón. That day he was seriously injured and this season he had only performed for a few minutes in Vallecas and Ponferrada. To Olmo, who will turn 36 in January, as the motto says, “He likes the Cup.”
