What happened to Tony Adams' Granada? It seems like forever, but it's only been four years. Things have radically changed for the better and this team, happily, has nothing to do with that one.
In that 2016-17 season there was the change of owner of the club. Gino Pozzo sold to the Chinese company DDMC for 37 million euros staying as president John Jiang. In order not to extend ourselves further with the past, in that campaign there were 23 signings in a squad that came to be 34 players of 19 different nationalities. Only two players remain from that project, Rui Silva and Dimitri Foulquier. Tony Adams, who was the vice president at DDMC and in charge of the sports part, assumed the sports management after the dismissal of Javier Torralbo ‘Piru’ and from the bench after the departure of Lucas Alcaraz. And the first thing he did was to line up, for the first time in the club's history, an eleven without Spaniards on the day of his debut against Celta. The result, 0-3. Adams counted his ‘scholarship period’ at Los Cármenes due to losses and relegation to the Second Division. For the story, his introductory phrase: “I come to kick the players in the butt”.
Next we will break down what happened to that template. As you will see, mixed luck.
Guillermo Ochoa. The Mexican goalkeeper, curiously, was one of the little good of that dismal campaign. It is in the America of Mexico
Gaston silva. The Uruguayan left-back plays for Huesca.
David Lombán. Central defense. Malaga.
Ruben Vezo. Portuguese Central Levante.
Ingasson. Icelandic defense. PAOK from Thessaloniki.
Uche Agbo. Midfield player. Sports.
Jail. Belgian nationalized Moroccan. Standard of Liege.
Isaac Cuenca. He is still active in the Vegalta Sendai in Japan.
Oier Olazábal. The Basque goalkeeper is at Espanyol.
Sergi samper. His bad luck with injuries has weighed down a career that was aiming to be brilliant. A good midfielder who is now at Vissel Kobe in Japan.
Ezequiel Ponce. Argentine forward who pointed to figure. He is scoring goals for Spartak Moscow.
Adrián Ramos. Chongqing (a Chinese-owned team) paid 12 million euros to Borussia Dortmund to hand it over to Granada, which took over their high salary, six million euros. He returned to América de Cali.
Krhin. Slovenian midfielder. Castellóm.
Gabriel Silva. Brazilian defense of discontinuous trajectory. He's at the Saint Etienne.
Titus. Paco Jémez brought it to him from Rayo Vallecano. The right back is without a team.
Angban. Ivorian midfielder trained in the Nasrid quarry. He's in the Metz.
Wakaso. Ghanaian midfielder playing at times, too manly. Play at the Jiongsu in China.
Hongla. Cameroonian defense also from the Gino Pozzo-Quique Pina factory. Play at the Royal Antwerp in Antwerp (Belgium).
Alberto Good. The forward is taking a lot of laps. He is now in the Valas of Greece.
Ally malle. Mali midfielder who is now at Ascoli, in Serie B (Second Division) in Italy.
Tabanou. The French forward is without a team.
Javi marquez. The Tarragona midfielder plays for Nàstic.
David Barral. The Cadiz striker continues to fight in the International DUX in Second B.
Jon Toral. The Anglo-Spanish forward, born in Reus, plays for Birmingham in the Championship (second category for England).
Pervis Estupiñán. The explosive Ecuadorian defense is in Unai Emery's Villarreal.
Juanan Trains. Granada youth squad who went through the lower divisions of Sevilla, Barcelona and Espanyol B. He plays in Finland at HIFK Helsinki.
Kone. This Greek footballer retired from football.
Luis Martins. Portuguese left back. He now plays for Sporting Kansas in Major League Soccer.
Fran Rico. The fine midfielder trained in the Real Madrid quarry has retired from football.
Ivan Kelava. The Croatian goalkeeper is at Dinamo Zagreb.
Saunier. A good French central defender who was unlucky. He's in the Lorient.
Hector Hernandez. A good striker who, unfortunately, stagnated in his progression. Play at Deportivo.
Atzili. An exotic Israeli attacker who went unnoticed. He is in the Maccabi Haifa of his country.
Tin Angle. Granada continues to have a championship brown with this Ecuadorian striker. After agreeing to his transfer for four million euros, Angulo was suspended for two years for testing positive for cocaine. Granada canceled the transfer, but the club of origin, Independiente del Valle, reported the case to FIFA, which partially agreed. Granada is afraid that the ‘joke’ will cost more than one million euros. Angulo is in the Manta Fútbol Club of Ecuador.
Survivors
Foulquier. He returned to Granada after a hiatus with Getafe and Watford.
Rui Silva. He arrived as a stranger and was the third goalkeeper after Ochoa and Oier. Its growth has been that of Granada. The contract ends on June 30 and he will go to Betis.
