Rubén Reyes, Getafe’s new sports director, has been presented at the Coliseum. The Spaniard signs for two seasons and is accompanied by Calleja, another former member of the azulón team. Ángel Torres acknowledges that there were three other candidates plus, but who finally opted for Reyes, whom he already knew from his time as a footballer. It is the second time that he signs him.
The director was excited about the opportunity: “It is an honor for me to represent Getafe. We have a huge illusion and a new stage in which we are optimistic. When Getafe calls me it is an opportunity to progress in my career and I had no doubts”. It was not a day to talk about names, but it is clear that the squad will undergo a big change: “We need to make eight or nine signings. There were many players on loan and you have to fill the positions. With a lot of patience to hit the players we want. All the names we have on the table are exciting”.
The transfer line will be agreed with the president and with Quique, with whom Rubén Reyes has already spoken several times: “We will try to comply with the requests of the president and the coaching staff.. We have to create a squad with more players owned. We are in a perfect situation to incorporate players. We are in connection with Quique. We get as close as possible to the profiles you request. A coach needs peace of mind when the season starts and we want to give him that”.
The Spaniard recalled his time as a footballer for Getafe, warning of the enormous growth of the club: “To stay in the First Division there is enormous difficulty. Getafe has a great track record, it is a stable club with eighteen years in the First Division. There are good foundations and a good initial idea from the president that we will try to give continuity to.”
The president also took the floor, praising his new employee, acknowledging that all lines must be strengthened and that he has no intention of making any more sales: “We are not a selling club with exceptions. Hugo Duro went with Bordalás and with Mathías they have paid and he couldn’t say no. Wish luck to another who is going to play Champions. Those sales put us in a good position. We want to make a good team.” He concluded by announcing that on Wednesday he will talk about specific footballers.
