Roque Mesa appeals to humility to achieve promotion

The player of Real Valladolid, Roque Mesa, has appealed this Tuesday, at a press conference, to “humility and continuity” to try to achieve promotion, which is the “common goal” of the entire team and, if possible, as leader of the classification.

“It is clear that it is better to be the first, and that you always look at the rivals who fight for that goal, but the important thing is that we continue along the same lines and that, in this second round, we manage to be just as solid and tough away from home than in our stadium”, stated the Canarian central midfielder.

Hence, the squad is already focused on the next match against Real Zaragoza “Because it’s going to be complicated, and it will be necessary to go with the utmost humility, without looking at the classification, psyched up that we have to run more than anyone and fight more than anyone, since now a crucial moment begins for many teams”.

Roque Mesa has become the essential figure of Real Valladolid, a merit that he attributes to the “evolution of the entire team”, hand in hand with a coaching staff that “adds a lot, that makes the players feel comfortable and happy, which translates into the field”.

“When things go well as a group, on an individual level you are better and, if you are happy off the field, you are also happy on it. The coach’s clarity of ideas allows things to work out on a daily basis and we all have desire to add and contribute, both those who play more and those who play less”, he explained.

In addition, they are all aware that “there is much to be done, that the road is difficult and that it is important to continue being happy and humble in order to add three by three, which is what will allow us to achieve this beautiful common challenge, without lose identity,” he added.

Regarding the possible exit of the Royal Valladolid of an important player like Ruben Alcaraz, with whom he shares a position, Roque Mesa has warned that “if he leaves, it will be a significant loss for the team”, although he understands that “players who have fewer minutes, seek to play more in another club”.

“The market is like that. There are players who leave and others who come. I would like them all to stay to continue adding, because all of them have allowed for a competitive squad, but I understand the situation of each one and that people aspire to play more outside,” he clarified.

Questioned about his role as a reference for the youngest, more specifically, for Christ Gonzalez, has indicated that “when one is young, one does things that are left over” for which he tries to “help and show the right path from humility and the little one knows, such as conveying that this is short, although when young it seems eternal” .

“I have told Cristo to be calm, to train and work, that the effort has its reward, and we all want more from him, more goals like the one he scored against Burgos. He is a young player who, like Gonzalo Silver, you have to tie them short so that they continue on track and helping the team”, he concluded.
