Ronaldinho Gaúcho and his brother, Roberto de Assis Moreira, have been released after the guarantee judge accepted in a preliminary hearing the conditional suspension of the process for which he was accused after having entered Paraguay with false passports.
The former soccer player must donate to a medical center in Asunción and to another social project a sum of $ 90,000 as “reparation.” His brother, Roberto de Assis Moreira, who was also charged in the same case, will pay $ 110,000, also as reparation, and will also have to appear every four months, and for two years, before the Brazilian judicial authorities.
The two brothers were arrested on the night of March 4 and until their home confinement on April 7 they were imprisoned in a police unit that functions as a prison. The Brazilian star has spent the last five months under house arrest in a hotel in Paraguay.
The case took a favorable turn for Ronaldinho the first week of this month, when the Prosecutor's Office, after presenting a document concluding the investigation, requested an abbreviated process for him and his brother, as well as the suspension of the process.
This means that the two brothers had to acknowledge the facts, for which a two-year prison sentence was requested, which they will not have to serve after suspending the process.
However, the two brothers should appear every three months before the Brazilian authorities and establish a domicile in that country.
