‘Rockall’ and ‘Meerblick Fun’, winners in ORC 2-3 and ORC A2 at La Larga de la PalmaVela 2022

The ‘Rockall’ and the ‘Meerblick Fun’ were proclaimed winners this Monday of La Larga – The Offshore Race, a deep-sea regatta organized by the Real Club Náutico de Palma and included in the program of the eighteenth edition of PalmaVela, in the classes ORC 2-3 and ORC A2.

As reported by the organization of the regatta, in ORC 2-3, the provisional winner was the ‘Rockall’, a ‘JPK 10.30’ owned by Christopher Opielok, who set a time of 26:52:96 and obtained an advantage of eight minutes in compensated time over the second classified, the ‘Huayra’, the ‘J109’ of José Antonio Martín.

The third position went to the fastest boat in its category in real terms, the ‘Plan B’, which completed the 135-mile journey between Palma, Dragonera, Cabrera, Portocolom and Palma in 25:10:45, but ended up losing 13 minutes as soon as the correction formula was applied.

On the other hand, in ORC A2, class for two crew, the ‘Meerblick Fun’, a ‘J99 K’ owned by Gabriele Pohlmann, took the victory with a time of 27:10:09, almost nine minutes ahead of the ‘Blaumariana’, skippered by Miquel Enseñat.

The podium was completed by Tito Moure’s ‘Smerit’, the first to cross the finish line of the Long Race with a time of 24:32:45, although he ended up losing almost 20 minutes in compensation compared to the champion.

In any case, La Larga de PalmaVela has not finished yet, waiting for the arrival of almost the entire fleet of the ORC 0-1 class, whose journey included the passage through the island of Tagomago before heading to Cabrera.

The ‘Pelotari Project’, skippered by Jonsi Seguí and with the Olympic champion Luis Doreste in its crew, crossed the finish line located in front of the Cathedral of Mallorca around 6:00 p.m., but since no other boat had completed the course, it had not yet it has been possible to proceed to the time compensation process.
