Roberto Bautista meets Rublev and says goodbye to Halle in the semifinals

MADRID, 24 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Roberto Bautista has been left at the gates of the final of the tournament in Halle (Germany), in the ATP 500 category and played on grass, after losing this Saturday in the semifinals against the Russian Andrey Rublev in two sets (6 -3, 6-4).

The man from Castellón, who surprised Russian Daniil Medvedev (7-5, 7-6(3)) in the quarterfinals on Friday, came up against an excellent version of the world number seven, against whom he saved three balls from ‘break’ in the initial game.

However, the number 23 in the ATP ranking could not avoid the break of the Russian in the third, and after wasting two balls to return the break, he lost his serve again in the ninth game, which closed the first set.

Bautista started the second set with a ‘break’, but Rublev soon countered the blow (2-2). Trailing 5-4, he fended off two match-points, but lost in the third after one hour and 42 minutes of play.

Despite everything, the Spaniard left Germany recovering his good feelings. Now, Rublev, in his fourth final of the course and the 24th of his career, will seek the title against the Kazakh Alexander Bublik, who defeated the German Alexander Zverev (6-3, 7-5) in the ‘semis’.
