Rey Manaj scores but Spezia falls in Bologna

Rey Manaj, an Albanian striker on loan from Barça with an option to buy, scored his third goal in Serie A, but Thiago Motta’s Spezia couldn’t maintain their lead and a brace from Austrian Marko Arnautovic meant defeat on their visit against Bologna (2-1) in the match that completed day 26 of the Italian championship.

Manaj opened the scoring in the 11th minute by heading in a cross from left-back Arkadiusz Reca, winning the game over center-backs Luis Binks and Arthur Theate.

But the good start of Spezia, whose coach Thiago Motta was chosen the best of the month of January for the good results achieved, did not continue and Sinisa Mihajlovic’s Bologna gradually took over the match.

Before the break Marco Arnautovic equalized after taking advantage of an assist from Musa Barrow, who initially saw his shot rejected by goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski (40′).

Bologna continued to dominate after the break and finally found the reward for their persistence. Nicola Sansone’s entry was premonitory as he served the cross that, finished off again by Arnautovic, decided the match in the 84th minute.

Bologna ends five games without a win and is in 12th place, while Spezia is 15th, 5 points from the relegation zone after adding one of the last 9. The streak of good results in January (3 wins and a loss ) has been truncated in February.
