Race 1 of the Preliminary Regatta of the Copa América de Barcelona 2024, which was to be held this Friday in Vilanova i la Geltrú, has been canceled by the organization due to bad weather and the danger it entailed for the participants.
“The day’s races have been cancelled. Race 1 is scheduled for Saturday,” the organization announced at 4:09 p.m., just minutes after the first of the three fleet races had to start.
With poor visibility due to fog, some rain – the least of the worries – and the forecast of more water and an electrical storm, the organization, which had already delayed the departure time from moorings, finally opted to send the AC40s to the base and cancel Regatta 1 this Friday.
