Rebeka Masarova will replace Paula Badosa at the Hopman Cup

MADRID, 13 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The tennis player Rebeka Masarova will replace Paula Badosa, who injured her back during the Wimbledon tournament, in the Spanish team at the Hopman Cup, the mixed team tournament from July 19 to 23 in Nice (France), accompanying Carlos Alcaraz, reports the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET).

The Spanish team will start their competition on Friday the 21st against Belgium and on Saturday the 22nd they will face Croatia, in the other match of the group stage, in which if they finish in first position they will go to the final that will take place on Sunday 23. In this format, each tie is played for the best of three matches, a women’s singles, a men’s single and a mixed doubles.

The Hopman Cup, which was played uninterruptedly between 1989 and 2019 in Perth (Australia) and which Spain won four times, returns to the tennis calendar after a four-year break, now based in France, changing its date, since it was traditionally played the first week of the year.
