Real Sociedad takes advantage of Atlético’s stumble and escapes in second place in the First Iberdrola

MADRID, 30 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona continues to dominate the Primera Iberdrola 2021-2022 without problems, pursued by a Real Sociedad team that is not letting up either and that took advantage of Atlético de Madrid’s stumble to open a good gap in second place, after the dispute on the nineteenth day of the championship.

The Blaugrana team, despite the casualties of Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmatí, Jana Fernández, Mariona Caldentey and Ana Crnogorcevic, did not give Betis too many options at the Johan Cruyff, thrashing them 4-0 and already over a hundred goals in the championship. The Nigerian Asisat Oshoala was the great protagonist scoring three goals in the first half, while the Swedish Fridolina Rölfo closed the scoring in the second.

Jonatan Giráldez’s team maintains an eleven-point advantage over Real Sociedad, who are not failing at the moment in their particular fight to play in the Champions League and who added their fifth consecutive victory by beating Villarreal 1-4 at home. Sanni Franssi (2), Amaiur Sarriegi and Allegra Poljak scored for the royalists and Sheila Guijarro made up the scoring for the hosts at the end.

Natalia Arroyo’s team now leads Atlético de Madrid by eight points, with one more game, and UD Granadilla Tenerife by one more, with the same games. The colchoneras were unable to maintain their good league momentum and dropped two points in Vitoria by drawing against Deportivo Alavés Gloriosas with Sheila García making it 1-1 in the 81st minute, while the team from Tenerife moved closer to third place by winning 1 -2 to Valencia and they dream of fighting for the Champions League.

In fifth position, five points behind third, is Athletic Club, who beat Rayo Vallecano 2-1 thanks to a goal in minute 86 by Nekane Díez, while Sevilla dropped out of that fight by losing in their visit to a Real Madrid that continues to show signs of improvement and that brought back Natalia Gaitán’s initial goal with goals from Nahikari García, Maite Oroz and Athenea del Castillo in Sofia Svava’s debut as starter.

Finally, Levante could not pass the tie in their visit to Sporting de Huelva (1-1) and Eibar took a breather by prolonging the bad moment of Madrid CFF, which added its sixth consecutive defeat by losing 2-1 in the debut of María Pry on the Madrid bench.
