The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced this Friday the schedules for the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey with the spotlight on Real Madrid-Atlético de Madrid that will take place at the Santiago Bernabéu on Thursday, January 26, at 9:00 p.m., and with FC Barcelona-Real Sociedad that will be played at the Camp Nou on Wednesday 28, at 9:00 p.m.
The quarterfinals will begin precisely with the team led by Xavi Hernández and will close on Wednesday with the match between Osasuna and Sevilla at El Sadar, at 10:00 p.m. For their part, Valencia CF and Athletic Club will open their mouths on Thursday from 8:00 p.m. at the Mestalla stadium, before Carlo Ancelotti’s men do the same at home.
The most attractive duel will be the Madrid derby between meringues (19 titles) and colchoneros (10), who have met in the Copa del Rey up to 23 times. The last cupbearer precedent between the two dates back to the 2014-2015 season, when they met in the round of 16 in a double leg. Atleti prevailed after 2-0 in the first leg at the Calderón and 2-2 at the Bernabéu.
