Real Madrid engul al Panathinaikos
Tavares, Yabusele and Abalde lead the remarkable triumph of the whites
MADRID, 15 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Real Madrid had no problems to beat Panathinaikos (88-65) this Friday and confirmed its positive balance in the Euroleague (3-1) after the fourth day of the regular season, thanks -among other things- to the profession and inspiration of Walter Tavares, the Whites’ top scorer with 17 points and leader from the start.
Pablo Laso’s team -which beat Monaco last Wednesday with more trouble- completed a great week in the ‘Old Continent’ with a posh win against a weak Panathinaikos, away from their European glory and minimized every time they are measured at The whites. The Hellenic side have lost in their last 13 meetings with Real Madrid.
The consolidation of the merengue team is coming with the passage of the games and the filming of the new ones. This was appreciated this Friday at the WiZink Center, where there was also a moment for the usual, Rudy Fernández and Sergio Llull, to lift the public from the seat with several flag triples. The night was almost perfect for Laso’s men, who remain undefeated at home and greasing their game.
In addition to Tavares, Guerschon Yabusele, the team’s top scorer on the course and responsible for 14 points this Friday, also joined the injured Trey Thompkins and Anthony Randolph, both outside and inside. Madrid was able to overcome all the ups and downs by pulling their competitive gene when they tried to tighten the Greeks.
There was not even a hint of a reaction from the PAO, nor did the rent drop below ten points, a situation that would have changed the minds of the locals, who remained strong despite 18 points from Macon Jr. The change of pace was not worth it. so that the meringues suffered in the end, quite the opposite. Even the lesson of the Monaco served to make the advantages grow without concessions.
The victory was unappealable -thanks also- to the 16 points of Alberto Abalde, another of the outstanding ones for his self-confidence and effectiveness, as well as a Vincent Poirier who every day gains a little more from the merengue stands. Real Madrid started with some doubt in Europe, but it seems that they have already set cruising speed.
