Real Madrid and Baskonia respond forcefully to Barça

The day of the derbies does not break the triple tie in the lead

MADRID, 26 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid gave bottom club Carplus Fuenlabrada no option (78-102) this Saturday in matchday 24 of the Endesa League to return to the lead, tied with a Cazoo Baskonia who also responded to Barça’s victory the day before.

Chus Mateo’s team performed at a great offensive level at the Fernando Martín less than 48 hours after their away win in the Euroleague against Virtus de Bologna. The white team won the derby with an overwhelming pace until the end, with 50 points at halftime and 32 in the third quarter.

Vincent Poirier stood out with 16 points and a PIR of 26, but Madrid had no weak point, with Causeur at 22 points and good performances from Hang, Deck and Tavares. The leader returned to the top of the table in the triple tie (20-4) with a Barça that also won its derby against Joventut on Saturday and a Baskonia that this Sunday was overwhelming with a 100-78 victory over Surne Bilbao Basket .

The Basque derby stayed in an impregnable Buesa Arena, seventh consecutive victory and 11 out of 12 at home. Baskonia, which is playing the Euroleague playoffs next week, was unstoppable with Howard (20 points), Enoch, Costello and a Kotsar who left 15 points and 27 valuation credits).

In addition, the Lenovo Tenerife is the only one that holds close to that trio in search of being seeded in the ‘playoffs’. The team from La Laguna scored their derby against Gran Canaria (81-77) with a stellar Huertas directing his team and with 22 points. The end decided the duel against those from Las Palmas, who maintain two mattress victories within the ‘Top 8’.

A victory above (15-9) and almost fixed for the fight for the title, Unicaja de Málaga, which came from two straight defeats, beat Real Betis in Seville (66-79) with a Darío Brizuela, author of 23 points, which was plugged in in the second part. The béticos remain in the relegation zone one victory away from salvation.

Meanwhile, Valencia Basket was the one who neglected their eighth position due to crosses when they fell (86-75) on their visit to Casademont Zaragoza. Christian Mekowulu (25 points, 9 rebounds and a PIR of 36) guided the team, which moved away from the danger zone.
