The Atlético de Madrid
has publicly announced its adherence to the Super league
, with a statement on its website in which the rojiblanco club highlights that this new tournament aims to be “the best sports club competition in the world.”
And the reactions of different sectors of the supportive mattress have not been long in coming, almost all, in a negative sense to the decision of the entity to join that select group of European clubs, although in the same statement, the Athletic highlights that “the Founding Clubs hope to hold conversations with the UEFA and the FIFA looking for the best solutions for the Super League and for world football as a whole ”.
The International Union of Peñas del Atlético de Madrid has echoed a message from Aficiones Unidas in which this association showed its outright rejection of this initiative. “Given the latest news, we see that once again the future of football is being negotiated ignoring the fans,” they have written from the Union on their Twitter account.
For its part, the Athletic Front, the largest group of mattress fans, has also shown its refusal to allow the mattress club to become part of this continental elite group, with a statement in which they claim the loss of values of the last years.
Another reaction comes from dand Jesús Ruiz, one of the largest collectors of Atlético's shirts, which has donated many items to the new Atleti territory. “Because this is not just a slogan for a specific party. Because I understand Atleti differently. So I have already communicated to the club my intention to withdraw all the shirts and objects that I gave to the Museum. #NoALaSuperliga, that's not our football, “he said.
Smoke Signals, an association contrary to the directive, does not agree either. And the Peña Atlética Gabriel Fernández de Córdoba ensures that it will cease to be an official club group if the club's membership of this Super League is consummated.
