Ramos and Taberner are still in Estoril; Carballés is eliminated

Albert Ramos and Carlos Taberner surpassed their debut in the Estoril tournament (Portugal) on Tuesdayscoring for the ATP and played on clay, while Roberto Carballés was eliminated.

The Catalan, seventh seeded on the Portuguese red clay, had to work for more than two hours against the Australian Jordan Thompson whom he beat in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to meet the South Korean Soonwoo Kwon. The player from Barcelona won the first and the third set having to overcome a ‘break’ disadvantage.

For his part, Taberner took advantage of his status as a ‘lucky loser’ and will face off in the second round with Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime after authoritatively defeating South African Lloyd Harris 6-3, 6-4 in a duel in which he did not lose his serve.

Finally, the Tenerife native could not accompany his two compatriots Roberto Carballés, who fell to the Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(4) in a match that lasted up to two hours and 45 minutes.
