Rain of criticism of Alexis for his expulsion: “It’s stupid”

Alexis Sánchez was the proper name of the meeting between Liverpool and Inter at Anfield. Those from Milan scratched the victory by 0-1 in red territory thanks to a goal from Lautaro Martínez, but the expulsion of the Chilean player stopped the attempt to come back. If the striker scored in the 61st minute, Alexis was sent off just two minutes later.

The Boy Wonder saw the second yellow card for a foul on Fabinho. The winger dived for the ball, touched it and it bounced off Fabinho changing direction. The problem came when Alexis was not able to pick up his leg and unintentionally hit the Brazilian in the ankle. Mateu Lahoz did not hesitate to show him the second yellow, the red one and show him the way to the locker room despite the fact that he apologized after committing the foul.

One of the most commented reactions was that of Fabinho’s partner, Rebeca Tavares. Unhappy with the entry, she posted a ‘Bye, Alexis’ (Goodbye, Alexis) and Twitter next to an emoji with a completely red face with anger. One similar to the one she would be living in those moments that led to criticism.

More analytical was Rio Ferdinand from BT Sports. The former central defender for United was as forceful on the microphone as he was on the green calling Alexis “stupid”, although he assures that he should not have been expelled.

“He won the ball, he tries to win that ball. In slow motion he makes it worse than it is. He’s actually going to win the ball, but he’s stupid for giving the referee a chance to make a decision. It’s a foul, but I don’t think it’s yellow,” he said.
