Raikkonen: “I doubt he’s excited but you never know”

Finn says goodbye to F1 with 1 title, 21 wins and 103 podiums

MADRID, 9 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Finnish Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen (Alfa Romeo) disputes this Sunday his last race in the ‘Great Circus’, to which he will say goodbye with a world title and 21 wins and the uncertainty, being ‘Ice man’, of whether he will be excited or not when you cross the finish line for the last time.

“I do not know, I doubt that he is excited, but you never know. At this moment I do not see anything else to end the year,” said the veteran driver in statements to ‘formula1.com’ collected by Europa Press.

In this sense, he believes that his wife, present in Abu Dhabi with their children, will be more emotional than he. “My wife will be more excited than I am. Honestly, I doubt the children care, there are things their father does that are much more interesting! They like to come to a warm country and other things … But it’s good to have them here “, he acknowledged.

Looking ahead, he commented that he has nothing tied down and that he is looking to relax. “We’ll see if some interesting things come up, if it makes sense maybe I will, but I don’t have plans at the moment. I don’t want to make any plans, I hope I have a less hectic schedule, so we’ll see if we’ll do something or not in the future.” he pointed.

Raikkonen is currently 16th in the drivers’ championship, having missed two Grands Prix after testing positive for COVID-19 and scoring points four times. And in this end of an era, Raikkonen will contest his 349th and final Grand Prix.

During a career that has spanned two decades, Raikkonen won 21 races, achieved 103 podiums and 18 pole positions plus the 2007 world championship, and raced for various teams, including Sauber / Alfa Romeo, McLaren, Ferrari and Lotus.
